There are few things better than a table filled with good food—except, perhaps, one surrounded by people who are just as excited to talk about it.
That was the idea behind the very first Delish Table, which brought together food writers and like-minded food lovers for an afternoon of good eats, easy conversations, and new connections at Brick Corner in BGC.
More than an excuse to sit down for a meal, though, the gathering marked the beginning of a new way for Delish Philippines to bring together the voices who help shape and celebrate the country’s ever-growing dining scene.
To kick things off, Delish Philippines’ Chief of Editorial Content Angelo Comsti shared the vision behind the gathering: to create a space where people can connect, build relationships, and simply enjoy being around others who share a similar love for food.
And with Brick Corner as the first venue, there was no shortage of things to talk about or eat.
A Table Set for Good Food
Recognized by the MICHELIN Guide with the illustrious Bib Gourmand, Brick Corner provided a fitting backdrop for the afternoon. With cozy interiors, large windows that let in lots of natural light, and an easygoing atmosphere, it was easy for everyone to settle in whether they were meeting for the first time or catching up with faces they haven’t seen in a long while.
Then, of course, came the food, with Brick Corner served a generous spread built on the robust flavors of modern North Indian cuisine with dishes spanning crisp chaats, grilled favorites, rich curries, biryani, and warm, easy-to-tear naan.
The meal moved from crunchy bites and savory skewers to bolder, spicier flavors, giving everyone plenty to sample as conversations carried on around the table. Among the dishes served were crunchy pani puris, their signature butter chicken, a fiery goan fish curry, a hearty mutton biriyani, and of course, a roster of toasted naans.
While all were spice-filled and generously seasoned, each dish showcased the restaurant’s approach to Indian food. As Brick Corner owner Preet Singh and co-owner Manik Setia described, Brick Corner is all about bringing a modern twist to Indian cuisine while staying rooted in the family recipes and traditions that inspired it.
That balance is reflected in the restaurant’s food, which takes familiar North Indian flavors and presents them in a way that feels contemporary and at home in the Philippines without ever diluting their sense of identity.
As Manik put it, the dishes are made “direct from the heart” and brought straight to the table—a sentiment that felt especially appropriate for an afternoon built around sharing good food with others.
More Than Just a Meal
If the food gave everyone something to gather around, it was the people at the table that gave the afternoon its real character.
Between bites, guests traded stories, exchanged recommendations, talked about restaurants and the wider dining scene, while making new connections and friends. Some conversations revolved around food, while others inevitably wandered elsewhere—the way good conversations tend to do when everyone is comfortable and having fun.
That, ultimately, is what the Delish Table hopes to create. It’s not just another bougie dining event, but rather a space where passionate people can meet, deepen relationships, and become part of a growing community.
The first gathering ended just as a good meal should, with empty plates, satisfied appetites, plenty of laughter, and conversations that seemed to continue even after the food was gone. So if the inaugural Delish Table proved anything, it’s that good food tastes even better when there’s good company around the table.
Here’s to more tables, more stories, more connections, and, naturally, plenty more bites to come.
